The job: your bank and your books telling the same story, without capturing lines by hand.
1. Add the bank account — Banking → add account. It becomes both a bank account and a ledger account in one move. 2. Download a statement from your bank — CSV or OFX if your bank offers them, otherwise the ordinary PDF statement works too: the AI reads it, including the scanned-looking ones. 3. Import it — Banking → Import, choose the file. Big PDFs process in the background; you can leave the page. 4. Watch the first-import trick: if your books are new, 360books offers to adopt the statement's opening balance as the account's opening balance — one click instead of a journal entry. 5. Categorise. Each line gets matched three ways, in order: your rules (e.g. "anything containing VODACOM → Telephone"), the memory of how you categorised similar lines before, and AI only for the genuinely new. Review the suggestions, fix any, and your fixes become tomorrow's memory. Bulk-select works for the obvious ones. 6. Match money in and out to open invoices and bills where the import didn't already — a payment matched to an invoice settles it. 7. Reconcile when the month closes — Banking → Reconcile ties the statement balance to the books, period by period, so drift can't hide.
Repeat monthly (or weekly — imports are idempotent about duplicates). Rules live under Banking → Rules; the full story is in Banking.
